Where the sound comes from

Cumbia started as coastal Colombian folk music and grew into the heartbeat of dance floors across Latin America — carried by accordion, congas, and güiro into Mexican sonidero culture and far beyond. Grupo Cumbiazo picks that thread up in Northern California, where taquerías share blocks with redwoods and every summer weekend has a festival.

Performance philosophy

A Cumbiazo set is a conversation with the crowd. The band watches the floor, shifts the tempo when the room asks for it, and hands the chorus to the audience when the moment is right. Requests are welcome, birthdays get shout-outs, and the last song always lands like a finale.

Who we play for

Weddings and quinceañeras. City festivals and cultural celebrations. Nightclubs, wineries, corporate parties, and community fundraisers. If the goal is a full dance floor, the band speaks the language — in Spanish and English.
